There are so many great new features of TFS 2013, that I've authored another new Pluralsight course. This course covers the Team Foundation Server 2013 New Features. This includes the Portfolio Management, Team Rooms, Work Item Charts, Lightweight code commenting, Git support, and Testing through Web Access. To see a great walkthrough, check out the Team Foundation Server 2013 New Features in the Pluralsight catalog.
Navigation and Work Item Changes
The navigation and work item changes alone are a great set of new features. We'll show how to use the new Account Dashboard, Project Dashboard, New Feature Backlogs. This provides the fundamentals of Portfolio Management and not just Project Management.
The improvements in collaboration from the Team Changes really change how each team member stays informed. The Team Rooms, Dynamic charts, and the Lightweight code commenting are all very helpful to both the local and distributed teams.
Source Code Changes
Git, Git, Git ... who would have thought that TFS is now a full fledged Git Source control provider. This allows for much better Java and Eclipse integration.
Git Branch and Merge
Branching and Merging is fundamentally different in Git than in Team Foundation Version Control, but just as powerful and just as easy to use.
Team Web Access is improved greatly with the testing area. Creation of Test Plans, Test Suites, and Test cases are even easier in the web access.
